Mandarin Together, Fun

A few words from our founder   info@MandarinTogetherFun.com

Dear Parents,

Ni Hao. Welcome to Mandarin Together Fun. I would like to share with you a little experience of mine. Many of my friends who were raised in a family that only speaks one language always ask me this question, “It is amazing that you are able to speak in more than six languages and Chinese dialects” My answer is a simple one, ”I was raised in a an environment in which everyone spoke all these languages. They just came very naturally.” My friends also ask me , “How do you do that? How do I help my children do that?” My answer is a simple one, “Let’s create the same environment for our children.”

My humble opinion is learning a second language should involve family and friends, school and community. To assist our parents and children practice outside of the classroom , MTF has invented a “Bracelet Fun Time” Let’s start with the family. Set aside 15 minutes a day, wear your bracelet and start practicing the words your family has learned from your last class. If your children are not in the mood of wearing the bracelet, do not force them, but still practice anyway. “Bracelet Fun Time” should be done in a fun and relaxed environment, example: While having dinner with your daughter, say to her, “Janet, ni hao. (Hello)”, “Mama ai ni. (Mommy loves you.)” Say that 15 minutes a day. You will be amazed with the result. Also, children learn faster and more fun when they are learning with their playmates. Set up a regular play date with other MTF’s students whenever possible.

Next, at MTF, besides providing your family the right materials, we also provide you our enthusiasm. We use songs, fun books, pictures, illustrations to assist you with learning. We sit in a circle and we all “play” together. If you are interested you may borrow some books from our library free of charge. Enjoy the books.

Last but not least, Community. MTF will inform you of any activities provided by other associations. Besides the regular classes, we will also have special events. We encourage

you to come join us.

With all these support, we hope that your children and you would be on your way to learning Mandarin and Chinese culture in a nurturing, productive and most importantly having fun while learning it!

Happy Learning!

Kind regards,

Chiung Grace
